Deputy President Motlanthe undertakes a working visit to Nigeria

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is to undertake a working visit to Nigeria, 13 to 15 November 2009, to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of the South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission in Abuja.

Deputy President will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr E Ebrahim and other Cabinet Ministers who are expected to participate in the signing of Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding.

South Africa committed itself to support close cooperation with the Federal Republic of Nigeria by structuring bilateral relations through the establishment of Bi-National Commission (BNC).

The 10th anniversary of South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission (BNC) started in both countries in October 2009, with activities which included mass-based participation of stakeholders in sports, education, media, parliament, civil society, women, arts and culture, trade and commerce, among others.
The theme of the celebration is: "South Africa and Nigeria in partnership for a better Africa".
