The MEC for Health Ms Pemmy Majodina officially opened the Machibini Clinic in Mt Frere on Saturday, 2 May 2009. This was the 14th clinic to be handed over by the department since January this year.

The MEC, when delivering her address pleaded with the nurses to treat their patients with empathy and to make sure that medicine is always available, "every one who comes in these premises must go home healthy," she said.

Health services like: Voluntary Counselling and Test (VCT), diabetes testing, blood pressure testing, child immunisation and tuberculosis (TB) screening were rendered on site during the event.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA), social development and South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) were present to render their service to that community as well.
