The Western Cape Provincial Government has amply demonstrated its commitment to good governance and integrity and will investigate allegations of corruption in provincial property management without fear or favour. Following the cancellation of two proposed property leases the provincial government has appointed a team of experts to investigate property management in the province.

"The team comprises two senior officials from Treasury and two from the Department of Transport and Public Works. The officials have no direct or indirect involvement in property management. The team will investigate the specific allegations as well as suggestions that government policy has been abused to manipulate legal processes.

Should evidence of impropriety come to light such information will be handed over to police for further investigation. The provincial government will ensure that due process is followed. The provincial government specifically disassociates itself from public possibly defamatory statements by Robin Carlisle Member of Parliament (MP) last week naming individuals said to be corrupt. Should Mr Carlisle have evidence of any corruption this would be most helpful to the investigation team.
