Help reduce accidents – North West Premier, Edna Molewa urges road users
9 April 2009
North West Premier, Edna Molewa, has urged the people of the North West to use the Easter holidays to demonstrate their commitment to building a nation that respects human life and the rules of the road.
In her Easter message, Molewa said that all road users have a responsibility to reduce the carnage on the roads and to prevent unnecessary loss of lives. "I would like to remind our road users that reckless driving, speed, fatigue and drunken driving are killers on our roads," said Molewa. She encouraged drivers to rest at regular intervals when they undertake long distance trips.
Molewa wished to people of the North West and all public servants a happy and peaceful Easter period. "Let us use the Easter holidays to reaffirm our commitment to the democratic ideals of our nation and to summon our collective will to act with even more determination in pursuit of a better life for all."
Molewa encouraged all citizens of the North West to do their patriotic duty by voting in the forthcoming elections which take place on 22 April 2009. She said by voting, the people of the North West would be contributing towards advancing the goals of our democracy and consolidating the reconstruction and development agenda of our country.
