Mandela Sisulu Clinic opens and further improves access to healthcare

Gauteng Health MEC, Mr Brian Hlongwa will on Thursday, 2 April 2009 open the new Mandela Sisulu Clinic in Orlando East, Soweto. The Mandela Sisulu Clinic was built on the grounds of Phomolong Clinic, which rose to prominence during the 1976 uprising when many of the children injured received medical treatment at these premises. Thereafter it became a tourist attraction as a result of its proximity to Hector Peterson Memorial and Vilakazi Street where Nelson Mandela’s house is.

Mrs Albertina Sisulu, African National Congress (ANC) stalwart Winnie Madikizela Mandela and Gauteng Premier Mr Paul Mashatile will be attending the event.

Prior to the official programme, Gauteng Health MEC will lead a health fun walk from the Sisulu family house in Magang Street to Mbela Street in Dube, Soweto.
