Deputy President to address the fourth Southern African AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa

Deputy President Baleka Mbete, will on Tuesday, 31 March 2009, address the fourth Southern African AIDS Conference at the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa.
The 2009 AIDS conference aims to serve as a platform for deliberations on the key issues relating to prevention, treatment and care. In particular, the conference will highlight state-of-the-art developments in prevention technologies; new approaches to prevention; the long-term impact of highly active antiretroviral therapy on incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality; the role of nutrition in HIV and AIDS; and the role of research into the use of complimentary and traditional medicines in HIV and AIDS.
The opening session of the 4th Southern African AIDS conference will take place as follows:
