Amafa-AKwaZulu-Natali council reinstated
13 March 2009
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele announced today, 13 March 2009 that the current council of Amafa-AKwaZulu-Natali will remain in office until the new council is constituted. The suspension of Amafa's CEO, Mr Barry Marshall, will also be lifted.
"I met with the Chairman of Amafa, Mr Arthur Konigkramer, this morning. Our discussions were amicable and constructive and all our differences, based on misunderstanding, were resolved," said the Premier. Premier Ndebele said the existing council would meet next week to continue with its work.
"We are moving forward constructively to build the multi-cultural heritage of our province. The Director-General, Dr Kwazi Mbanjwa, and Mr Konigkramer will be joining me on a visit to the eMakhosini Valley this Sunday, 15 March 2009, to view the R23 million multi-media centre currently nearing completion and the greater project of which it forms part," the Premier said.
