Deputy President Baleka Mbete expresses her condolences and will pay her respects to the family of Philani Mkhanyawo

The Deputy President Baleka Mbete will tomorrow, 7 March 2009 at 09h00, pay her respects to the Philani Mkhanyawo family in Umlazi N section, House No 1134 before he is laid to rest.

Philani "Amen" Mkhanyawo was a musician with the renowned Ithemba Gospel Choir based in KwaZulu-Natal province.

According to police reports, Philani was fatally shot at his home in N Section Umlazi by a group of men.

The Deputy President expresses her shock and dismay to this senseless killing, and sends her deepest condolences to the family, and moreover, says that the passing of Philani leaves a huge vacuum in the gospel music industry.
