Deputy President to embark on a working visit to the Mpumalanga province

Deputy President Baleka Mbete will tomorrow, 28 February 2009, embark on a working visit to the Mbombela Local Municipality in the Mpumalanga province where she will assess the state of readiness to host some of the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches.

The Mbombela Local Municipality is one of South Africa's venues to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup Matches and is in the process of constructing a stadium and other supporting infrastructure.

The Deputy President will receive progress report on the construction of the Mbombela Multi Purpose Sport Stadium and other bulk infrastructure and 23 related projects.

The visit is part of a broader initiative that will see her visit all other provinces. She first visited the Eastern Cape province on 20 February 2009, where she had discussions with the Provincial leadership on the progress with regards to the implementation of the Service Delivery Acceleration Plans and the general overview of the state of the province.
