Wear Bafana Bafana jersey, Molewa urges North West citizens
21 February 2009
This Friday, public servants in the North West will give their suits and ties a break, and put on Bafana Bafana sportswear. This will be in response to a recent call by Premier Edna Molewa to the people of the province to show support and passion for both our national team and football as we approach 2010.
During her State of the Province Address, Molewa urged the people of the North West, both within and outside the public service, to wear Bafana Bafana jerseys every last Friday of the month until the beginning of the FIFA World Cup matches in 2010.
The Premier’s call is part of the provincial government’s objective to create and sustain public awareness for the forthcoming 2010 World Cup and to garner support for the national soccer team.
Meanwhile the provincial government has expressed satisfaction with regards to its preparations for hosting the confederations cup. The upgrading of the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, in line with FIFA requirements, is going according to plan. The stadium is currently being upgraded from a 39 000 seater to a 45 000 seater.
The provincial government is confident that the people of the North West will support the confederations cup and also heed the call by the Premier to wear Bafana Bafana sportswear on the last Friday of every month.
