Department of Science and Technology participates in Gauteng New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad) Summit

19 February 2009

This event will include representatives from many African countries and observers from international economic development agencies, who will go into discussions culminating into the establishment of the first-ever African economic development agencies secretariat office. International and regional agencies that have been involved in economic development in Africa for a long time will be invited to participate at the summit.

The African Co-operation Unit of the Department of Science and Technology will be participating in the upcoming Gauteng Nepad Summit, on 3 to 5 March 2009.

Taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre, the Nepad Summit and its integral "African Trade and Investment Expo 2009" (ATIEX) has been organised by the Gauteng Economic Development Agency (GEDA) to promote trade and investment in Africa.

In a breakaway session themed “regional integration in science technology and innovation,” the Department of Science and Technology (DST) will provide a unique platform for participants to interact with policy markers, leaders in academia and agencies involved in economic development in Africa.
