No let off for abuse perpetrators this festive season says Premier Sogoni
15 December 2008
Eastern Cape Premier Honourable Mbulelo Sogoni has warned those who abuse women and children not to think that the closing of the 16 days campaign means they must start abusing women and children. "We are saying that we will be watching them 365 days of the year. To us the issue of abuse is not about 16 days, 16 days is used to highlight the issues around abuse and the campaign itself but in terms of our law enforcement work as well as us following very close on their heels, we will continue to do so every day of the year," said Premier Sogoni.
The 16 Days of Activism Campaign in the Eastern Cape was officially closed by President Kgalema Motlanthe on Wednesday in Queenstown.
