Indigenous music festival to light up Port Shepstone

The small town of Port Shepstone, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, will come alive when different groups of indigenous music and dance showcase their talent. The event is a culmination of music, song and dance competition, which has been running in different districts of the province as part of arts development, fully funded by the Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism. The event will provide a platform for groups that have come out tops in the competition to perform. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Weziwe Thusi, will deliver an opening address at the festival.
The festival will feature artists who perform Maskandi, Isicathamiya and Isigenkle, among others. The major drawcard will be renowned Maskandi singer Phuz'ekhemisi.

The festival is part of the department’s programme to develop arts in the province.
