Ministers and Members of Executive Council (MECs) to hold War on Poverty Imbizo in KwaZulu-Natal

The Department of Social Development is to host a War on Poverty service delivery imbizo at Mkhuphula village, Emabomvini in Msinga, Greytown, featuring provincial, national and local government leaders.
The imbizo, which will take place on the 10th of December 2008, will celebrate International Human Rights Day and also mark the end of the campaign of 16 Days of Activism of no Violence against Women and Children.
The following political office bearers will attend the imbizo, hosted by the provincial Department of Social Development:
Minister of Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma
Minister of Safety and Security, Mr Nathi Mthethwa
MEC for Finance and Economic Development Dr Zweli Mkhize
MEC for Social Development, Mr Meshack Hadebe
MEC for Agriculture and Environmental Affairs, Mr Mtholephi Mthimkhulu.
Government will interact with the community on broader issues of socio-economic rights, including decent jobs, electricity, the fight against crime, social security, water and general social services. Registration for social grants and identity documents will take place on site.
The MEC for Social Development, Mr Hadebe, will also conduct a sod turning ceremony for a one stop shop in the area.
