Correctional services Minister launches the 2009 FCC and 2010 FIFA World Cup supported by the 2010 local organising committee (LOC) ambassadors, Leeuwkop Correctional Centre

The Minister of Correctional Services Mr Ngconde Balfour MP will on Saturday, 6 December 2008 officially launch the 2009 FCC and 2010 FIFA World Cup in correctional centres supported by LOC Ambassadors which among others include Doctor Khumalo, Mark Fish, Phillemon Masinga etc.
Amongst the 2010 FIFA World Cup Ambassadors there will be representatives of the Local PSL teams e.g. Lamontville Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns etc.
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) serves within the Justice Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) and thus far been roped in to provide a support service to the 2010 FIFA World Cup preparations. The visit signifies and strengthens the involvement of the department in maintaining its partnership with its stakeholders in crime prevention programmes through the 2010 LOC Legacy and Ambassador Programmes.

NB: A tour of the centre by the 2010 LOC Ambassadors and the media will be conducted
The Ambassadors will be offered an opportunity to deliver key messages of hope to offenders hereafter visitors will have an opportunity to watch a football match by offenders. Your publication and or station are invited to cover this important event that demonstrates the department's commitment to ensure public safety and the safe custody of offenders.
