Speaker of Parliament's National Assembly, Honourable Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde, will join Mr Tim Modise in handing awards to pupils at Tim Modise Primary School in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, on Wednesday, 3 December 2008, from 10h00 to 13h00.

Tim Modise Primary school was initially called Agisanang Primary School before being renamed after the media personality, Tim Modise, in 2005 after he had adopted it under the auspices of Tim Modise Foundation. The school was amalgamated with another one initially called Kagisanong Primary at the time of the renaming.

Tim Modise Foundation was formed in 2005 with the view to improve the lives of individuals and society in general and Ga-Rankuwa in particular through partnerships with stakeholders. Since the adoption, Tim Modise Primary School has received a donation of computers from the foundation. Modise, who was incidentally also a learner at the school, donated R50 000 towards the security of the computer centre at the school.

According to the school principal, Mrs Ditshego Mathibedi, the significance of giving awards for best performance in grade one to seven is to encourage all learners to love and be dedicated to their school work. The occasion is also an opportunity for children to interact with role models and achievers from their own community.
