Social Development Minister Dr Zola Skweyiya on a working visit in Sweden

Social Development Minister, Dr Zola Skweyiya, will today, 25 November 2008, have discussions with the Swedish Minister for Social Security, Health and Social Affairs, Christina Husmark Pehrsson.
The meeting is part of Minister Skweyiya's programme in Stockholm, Sweden, where he is currently on a working visit to explore further issues pertaining to social security.
The two leaders are expected to discuss financial security for the sick and disabled, and financial security in old age.
Minister Skweyiya said "Sweden is highly respected for its outstanding programmes on social security particularly on disability, and I am confident that my interactions here will contribute in improving South Africa's programmes on social development."
Today the minister will also meet with disability ombudsman whose responsibility is to monitor the rights and interests of people with disability.
On Wednesday, 26 November 2008, Minister Skweyiya will also meet:
* The International Secretary of the Swedish Social Democratic Party
* Ministry of Integration and Gender Equality
* The National Board of Health and Welfare
Minister Skweyiya is scheduled to return to South Africa on Thursday, 27 November 2008.
