Safety and Security on Mosioua Lekota's body guards
21 November 2008
Minister for Safety and Security, Nathi Mthethwa on Wednesday, 19 November extended government protection services enjoyed by Mr Mosioua Lekota, for a period of seven days.
Mr Lekota has however been requested to furnish the Minister with comprehensive reasons within seven days, why he should continue to receive protection at state expense. The Minister will then apply his mind to decide whether the protection should be terminated or extended on terms to be determined by the minister.
This was in response to a request by Mr Lekota to the Minister for the extension of protection services. The Minister is mindful of the precedent that may be set by acceding to such a request in that other former political office bearers may expect or demand similar protection.
