Minister Baloyi hosts 7th annual Batho Pele Learning Network

Public Service and Administration Minister, Mr Richard Baloyi is to host the 7th annual Batho Pele Learning Network, under the theme "mainstreaming and institutionalising Batho Pele to promote the desired public service culture of togetherness, Ubuntu."

The objectives of the 2008 learning network include examining blockages in mainstreaming and the implementation of Batho Pele.

The learning network is a platform that promotes sharing and exchanging of ideas, experiences, best practices and lessons that are aimed at improving service delivery though the implementation of the White Paper on Transforming Public Service Delivery of 1997 known as Batho Pele.

The 2008 learning network will showcase best practices through case studies and the discussions will include:
* Improving internal and external public service partnerships,
* Leadership accountability in the implementation of Batho Pele,
* Creating and developing the will to serve: with introspection on whether enough is being done.

Premier for the Eastern Cape Province, Mr Mbulelo Sogoni will deliver an opening address on the significance of the conference and the overall Batho Pele programme.

The Batho Pele Guidelines on the Functions of the Batho Pele co-ordinators booklet will be launched by the Director-General (DG) of the Eastern Cape Province, Dr Sibongile Muthwa at the gala dinner. The guidelines will add value to existing initiatives that are geared towards revitalising Batho Pele programme as part of contributing to improving service delivery.
