Media invite: Eastern Cape Agriculture MEC Gugile Nkwinti cordially invites you to the launch of Siyazondla homestead gardens programme

4 November 2008

The MEC for Eastern Cape Agriculture Gugile Nkwinti cordially invites you to the launch of Siyazondla homestead gardens programme that will be in Alice at Binfield village.

While the launch will be taking place at Binfield, the department will be launching the series of projects in the whole Nkonkobe Municipality and there will be handing over of Siyazondla kits.

The Siyazondla kits include inputs like seeds and seedlings as well as implements like spades and garden forks, watering cans and hoes.

The aim of the programme is to assist the poor, vulnerable and food insecure households who own or have access to small pieces of land and it is one of the programmes that are very close to the MEC's heart.

The programme for the day will start with the visit to the projects as well as stalls where their produce will be displayed.

One of speakers will be from Fort Hare University and he will dwell on how the re-introduction of animal traction have changed and improved the lives of rural people.

Members of the media are therefore invited to witness this development and see for themselves how people are building social cohesion by eradicating poverty with the help of government.
