Eastern Cape Premier Mbulelo Sogoni hosts National Council of Provinces (NCOP) gala dinner
31 October 2008
The Eastern Cape's Honourable Premier Mbulelo Sogoni will host national ministers, members of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), business people and other important stakeholders at a special gala dinner at the Queenstown Casino on Wednesday, 5 November 2008 at 18h00 for 18h30.
The gala dinner is in honour of the NCOP visit to the Emalahleni Local Municipality from 3 to 7 November 2008. The dinner will afford all in attendance an opportunity to hear the Premier talk about programmes of the provincial government to boost the provincial economy and fight poverty.
As part of the 'Taking Parliament to the People' programme, the NCOP will be sitting in Lady Frere. The Eastern Cape as a venue for the sitting is in line with the government's banner of empowering communities for poverty eradication by visiting areas suffering from abject poverty around Emalahleni Local Municipality.
NCOP is one of the two houses of Parliament that was set up to represent the provinces to ensure that provincial interests are taken into account in the national sphere of government.
Media is invited to gala dinner.
