Correctional Services launches an offender national boxing tournament Johannesburg management area Gauteng province

The Department of Correctional Services cordially invites your institution to a first ever launch of a national offender boxing tournament that is to be held at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre , Gauteng Province Friday, 26 September 2008.
The Minister of Correctional Services Mr Ngconde Balfour MP, will deliver a keynote address during the launch. Amongst the guests from the South African boxing fraternity who will deliver words of support is the president of South African National Boxing Organisation (SANABO), prominent South African promoter Rodney Berman, representative from Boxing South Africa (BSA) Loyiso Mtya and Jan Bergman.
The launch is part of rehabilitation programmes of offenders through sport and recreation. The department initiated to partner with BSA to form a joint venture with the aim of identifying, selecting and training offender boxers from all the regions. Representatives from South African National Amateur Boxing Organisation (SANBO) will serve as adjudicators during the tournament.
