Minister Fraser-Moleketi to address conference on Anti-Corruption and the building of a National Integrity System
17 September 2008
Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will deliver a keynote address at the 10th anniversary and Inaugural Africa Conference of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The South African Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is a collection of individuals from all industries and professions, who all have a single goal in mind; the reduction of white-collar crime in South Africa.
Topics covered on the day include:
* anti-money laundering: an African perspective
* silent technologies: silent and anonymous tip-off mechanisms
* insolvency enquiries as an investigative tool
* the forensic industry: the way forward, new trends in Africa and abroad
Minister Fraser-Moleketi will speak on a variety of Anti-Corruption issues and with a special emphasis on the development of a National Integrity Framework. The Minister advocates that the ultimate goal of establishing a national integrity system is to make corruption a 'high risk' and 'low return' undertaking. As such it is designed to prevent corruption from occurring in the first place, and because corruption tends to be a systemic problem, the primary emphasis is on changing systems, rather than blaming individuals.
