Invitation to Gender Mainstream Conference

Mafikeng: - The North West Department of Transport, Roads and Community Safety will host a gender mainstream conference. This conference will take place over two days on Thursday and Friday.

The purpose of this seminar is to engage management teams and traffic officers on the realities the department is faced with in view of employment equity and jointly come up with ways and means of addressing the discrepancies. This seminar will kick start the actual process of empowering women in traffic without turning a blind eye on the development needs of men in traffic and address the issues of assertiveness and harmony in the battle of sexes in the workplace.

The event will be attended by both men and women from across the province. Attending will be among others North West Transport, Roads and Community Safety MEC Phenye Vilakazi, Head of Department Mr Nick van Staaden and the department's executive management.

Topics that will be covered on the day will include:
* Employment equity realities and challenges at national and provincial level
* Preparing women for challenges: unpacking challenges faced by women in law enforcement today
* Women policing in traditional society setting a scene for future women to develop in law enforcement: changing perception
* Mastering negative emotions (emotional intelligence)
