Joint statement by Western Cape Provincial Government and the City of Cape Town

The transfer of displaced people from city of Cape Town community halls to three safety sites has kicked off this morning in Bothasig. Today displaced people will move from two community halls and a safety site to the Harmony Park safety site in strand.

All media are invited to attend. Media photos and interviews will be allowed during the departure and arrival, but will be temporarily suspended during registration and allocation of accommodation. Once this process has been completed, free media access will resume.

Please note that times are approximate and could vary. The movement of 55 people started at 09h00 this morning at the Bothasig hall. 87 people will be moved from the Leibrandt van Niekerk hall, South Road, Table View at 11h00. 108 people will be moved from Silwerstroom Strand at 14h00.
