President Thabo Mbeki to chair the presidential economic advisory panel

President Thabo Mbeki will tomorrow, Thursday, 28 August 2008, chair a meeting of the presidential economic advisory panel at the Union Buildings, in Tshwane.
The last meeting of the presidential economic advisory panel took place on the 18th July 2007. Tomorrow the presidential advisory panel will, amongst other issues, present an annual report to the president on the state of the South African economy, i.e. the performance of our economy, performance of government in relation to the objective of halving poverty and unemployment, state capacity and capability, human capital and labour market constraints and so on.
The presidential economic advisory panel is also expected to examine the success of government in confronting issues such as poverty and inequality, land reform and restitution, social capital and crime.
