26 August 2008

North West MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard Yawa has called on women contractors to attend the information session to empower them for participation in the housing sector. As part of the programme for the day, MEC Yawa and the Executive Mayor for City of Tlokwe Local Municipality will launch a housing project and do a sod turning for construction of 2 000 housing units to be constructed by women contractors and hand over completed houses to women beneficiaries.

The theme of the information session is "Business Unusual - All hands on deck to speed up empowerment of women in housing". It is organised by the Department of Local Government and Housing in partnership with Tlokwe Local Municipality, South African Women in Construction, National Home Builders Registration Council, Construction Industry Development Board, National Federated Chamber of Commerce (North West), National Association of Black Construction and Allied Trade, and the financial and banking sector.
