24 August 2008
Residents of iDutywa in the Eastern Cape are ready to welcome Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka when she visits their community on Monday to officially close Women's Month in the province. Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka will be accompanied by Eastern Cape Premier Mbulelo Sogoni at the event which will be held at iDutywa Stadium.
Nondithini Mthimkhulu (65) from Ngcigwane village said: "We have heard that she is coming to talk to us on Monday and I hope I will be able to talk to her when she is here."
A lot of hype has been created around the Deputy President's visit and government officials are busy making final touches at the stadium and doing the last round of community mobilisation in the rural villages around iDutywa.
IDutywa is the small town where President Thabo Mbeki was born and is about 30 kilometres from Butterworth.
