Media release for the Sod Turning Ceremony
19 August 2008
In our quest to ensure the access to quality education to all learners in the province, the MEC for Education, Mr Casca Mokitlane will on Thursday, 21 August 2008, turn the sod at Lemotso Primary School.
The aim of the sod turning is to accelerate delivery of education infrastructure and related services in order to improve access and meet our objective of providing quality education to all Free Staters. Through this sod turning, the Free State Department of Education would like to address extreme overcrowding and improve conditions of physical infrastructure and related facilities in schools.
Earlier this year, the department finalised the bids for the building of 11 new schools and the upgrading of four schools to finally eliminate platooning in the province. The bids were divided into three clusters: One cluster for five schools in Thabo Mofutsanyana, one cluster for five schools in Fezile Dabi and one cluster for schools in Motheo and Lejweluputswa.
The media is hereby invited to attend this prestigious function.
