Justice Minister opens Access to Justice Week

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mrs Brigitte Mabandla will officially open the Access to Justice Week which takes place from 18 to 23 August 2008. Access to Justice Week is annual projects initiated by the South African Women Lawyers Association (SAWLA) in partnership with the Department of Justice to ensure that poor, previously marginalised and rural women receive free legal advice which will assist them enhance their lives.
During this week, women lawyers will be stationed at different public areas in South Africa, i.e. shopping centres, community halls and magistrate courts to give free legal advice on maintenance, wills, domestic violence, rights in marriage, divorce, custody and access, small claims court, guardianship and fostering.
The official opening by the Minister will take place on Monday, 18 August 2008 at Khayelitsha Magistrates Court, Cape Town from 10h00.
