Yawa visits housing project sites

13 August 2008

In an effort to eliminate bottlenecks in earmarked housing projects, North West MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard Yawa is scheduled to visit Mazista and Willow Park Sites on Thursday, 14 August 2008.

The team of programme managers, officials from municipalities and sectoral departments, mayors and councillors are expected to accompany MEC Yawa to determine interventions required to fast track housing delivery in the two areas located in Kgetleng Rivier Local Municipality and Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipalities respectively.

The site visits are in line with MEC Yawa's commitment during his Policy and Budget Speech that a team of multi-faceted programme managers to augment the department on matters such as project and contract management and enforcement, quality assurance issues and technical support, will hit the ground running in August 2008.

Yawa has declared 2008 as "The Year of Dust" in which planned and uncompromised support and monitoring will be critical in the implementation of the plan to create vibrant and sustainable human settlements.

The visits are scheduled for 10h00 and 15h00 respectively.
