Deputy Environment Minister to open Women and Environment Conference 2008 in Polokwane

Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi will tomorrow, 13 August 2008, officially open the high level third Women and Environment Conference at The Ranch Hotel in Polokwane, Limpopo at 18h00.

Environment Ministers from Lesotho, Mozambique and Swaziland, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe, Limpopo Premier, Sello Moloto, MECs from various provinces, Director General of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Executive Mayors, ambassadors and representatives of United Nations (UN) agencies, African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL), Young Communist League (YCL) Buti Manamela and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are expected to attend the conference.

The conference provides a platform to share experiences, best practices and knowledge on initiatives through which women and young people throughout the world and in South Africa are leading solutions for environmental sustainability. The theme for this conference is "All Hands on Deck: Women Leading Solutions for Environmental Sustainability".

The media is invited to attend and will be afforded the opportunity to interview the Deputy Minister and other VIPs.
