Health MEC Nomonde Rasmeni visits EMRS stations in Rustenburg to check on conditions and areas needing urgent attention
7 August 2008
Working towards improving the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) in the province and identifying areas that need strengthening before the 2010 World Cup, Health Member of Executive Council (MEC) Mrs Nomonde Rasmeni, is visiting Emergency Medical Rescue Service centres in Rustenburg to assess working equipment, state of ambulances, EMRS services in the area and state of readiness for the 2010 World Cup.
The visit is part of continuous efforts by the MEC to check on improvement of emergency services to the people. With Rustenburg being one of the host cities for the 2010 World Cup, it is critical for the EMRS in the province to be ready as part of preparations for the World Cup and beyond.
The visit is also geared towards checking progress made since the decentralisation of EMRS services to the districts last year, which was done to bring emergency services closer to communities. The visit will be held at Job Tabane Hospital at 13h00 today. The MEC has already visited Klerksdorp and Vryburg emergency stations as part of her efforts to interact with all personnel in the province.
The media is invited to capture the visit and interactions.
