6 August 2008
Minister of Housing Lindiwe Sisulu will deliver the opening address at the Women in Housing Indaba in Kimberley on 7 August 2008.
The Indaba under the banner "Entrenching Women's Participation in Housing Delivery" will provide a platform for women in housing to share experiences and to network. The Indaba themes include the role of women in housing delivery processes and in construction, while training and skills and enterprise development are other key focus areas.
The Women in Housing Indaba takes place at the Christian Revival Church, Kimberley. Minister Sisulu will also hand over 52 houses build by women contractors at China Square informal settlement in Galeshewe, Kimberley.
The build is part of the celebrations of Women's Day in August, but also commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the 1956 march by 20 000 women to the Union Buildings to protest against the pass laws.
