President Mbeki to launch the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (Palama)
31 July 2008
President Thabo Mbeki will tomorrow, 1 August 2008 launch the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (PALAMA) at the Trevenna Campus, Tshwane.
The Academy was created through the organisational reconstitution of the South African Management Development Institute over the past year. Its role is to co-ordinate, monitor and quality-assure the training to be delivered by the participating institutions.
The Academy is located at a new building in the government corridor to be named after the late Professor ZK Matthews. This is appropriate given his role as an educator and expert in public administration. It acknowledges his pioneering educational achievements in general and in particular his years of teaching in public administration and law at the University of Fort Hare.
President Mbeki will be accompanied by the Minister for Public Service and Administration, Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi.

Date: 1 August 2008
Time: 9h30 for 10h00, until 13h00 (media to arrive at 09h00)
