Mpumalanga Department of Education congratulates Mpumalanga School choirs
7 June 2008
The Mpumalanga Department of Education would like to extend a message of congratulations to all the schools that participated in the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod of the weekend 3 to 6 July 2008 at the Coca Cola Dome.
Of the 26 Mpumalanga School Choirs that participated in this competition, seven obtained position one; four obtained position two; three position three.
"This pioneering spirit displayed by our schools has indeed put Mpumalanga on the pedestal for ongoing success. It makes the Mpumalanga community to feel good and proud. I take this time to extend my profound appreciation to all educators, learners, conductors, parents and all those who made this a success."
This is how the schools performed:
First position
1. Bunny Khoza Secondary School: Bushbuckridge Region (Mixed Double Quartet)
2. Empucukweni Secondary School: Nkangala Region (Western Piece)
3. Kopanang Secondary School: Nkangala Region (Bass Solo)
4. Elukhanyisweni Secondary School: Nkangala Region (Tenor Solo)
5. Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary School: Gert Sibande Region (Soprano
Solo)
6. Cefups Academy Mixed Choir Ehlanzeni Region (Western Piece)
7. Mpumalanga Mass Choir (Grade 7 to 9) (National Anthem and Folklore)
Second positions
1. Piet Retief Combined School: Gert Sibande Region (African Piece)
2. Mabande Secondary School: Nkangala Region (Mezzo Soprano)
3. Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary School: Gert Sibande Region (Duets)
4. Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary - Gert Sibande Region (Small Ensemble)
3rd Positions
1. Madzuna Combined School: Bushbuckridge Region (Afrikaans Piece)
2. Mpuluzi Secondary School: Gert Sibande Region (HIV and AIDS Advocacy)
3. Mpumalanga Mass Choir (Grade 10-12) (National Anthem and Folklore)
