KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele will deliver the keynote address at the Provincial Youth Day Commemoration to be held at the KwaMsane Sports Ground at Mtubatuba in the uMkhanyakude District of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, 16 June 2008.

Thousands of people, including Members of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council, Members of the Provincial Legislature, mayors, councillors, leaders of youth political formations and young people in business, have been invited to attend.

The provincial theme is: “Proud of our past, certain about the present, confident about the future and proud to serve.”

This year’s Youth Day marks the 32nd anniversary of the Soweto uprising of 1976, when we remember and celebrate the efforts of the Youth of our country, who waged the struggle for liberation and a better life for all. It is a day that our country honours their collective efforts and sacrifices in the struggle against colonialism and apartheid.

During his 2008 State of the Province Address Premier Ndebele said that the Youth should be at the forefront in the process of reconciliation and should be involved in activities which provide benefits to the community while developing the abilities of young people through service and learning.
