Gauteng Energy Efficiency Exhibition (Energex) kicks off in Nasrec

Acting Premier Paul Mashatile will officially open the Gauteng Energy efficiency Exhibition (Energex) at Nasrec Expo Centre, south of Johannesburg on Friday.
The three day exhibition has been organized by the Gauteng Department of Local Government on behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Government to afford Gauteng residents to view various energy saving products that will at the exhibition.
Gauteng Local Government MEC Qedani Dorothy Mahlangu will also address the gathering. Various speakers and delegates from provincial government, municipalities, National Department of Minerals and Energy, National Electricity Regulator, Electricity Distribution Industry (EDI), the Central Energy Fund, the Banking Council and Business Unity SA.
Discussions will range from the national electricity response, renewable energy strategy, retrofitting programme for government buildings and the role of the banking sector.
The exhibition will also incorporate four briefing sessions aimed at ensuring that Gauteng residents become active role players in energy efficiency campaigns with every sector and geographic part of the province being organized to play a meaningful role.
Four sessions have been set aside for tough discussions on the electricity crisis, the country’s plan of action to deal with the crisis, the provincial and municipal plans and the role of every sector and individual in contributing to energy conservation.
Gauteng residents, including business, labour, media, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, ratepayers associations, public representatives, civil society, educational institutions, health care institutions, public representatives, ward committees and Community Development Workers (CDWs).
Energex will give service providers an opportunity to exhibit different energy efficient products such as solar powered roofing insulation system, energy saving bulbs, ripple control geysers to geyser blankets.
