Northern Cape Premier Dipuo Peters to official launch a biltong factory in the Karoo

3 June 2008

Unemployment is one of the most important challenges facing poor communities in the country. It is accepted worldwide that the development and growth of small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) can play an important role turning this situation around. Policies and programmes to support the development of SMMEs are therefore an important part of the democratic government's programmes to create a better life.

The Northern Cape Premier, Ms Dipuo Peters will officiate at the above occasion which is the second commercial building to be constructed in Victoria West in the last 30 years.

Thirty one people are employed in the factory. This project came off the ground through the intervention of the Premier and the Department of Economic Affairs and a financial institution who gave funds towards the operations costs.
