North West launches new Thusong Service Centres to intensify service delivery

As part of its objective to bring services closer to the people, the Provincial Government will this year launch Thusong Service Centre in Tlaakgameng in Kagisano Local Municipality and Jericho in the Madibeng Local Municipality.
"We remain confident that we will meet the President’s deadline of one Thusong Service Centre per local municipality by 2014", Premier Edna Molewa said today during the 2008/09 Budget Vote of the Office of the Premier at the North West Provincial Legislature.
"We are concerned that many of our people are unable to receive government information in their own languages. We will continue to do our best to ensure that the languages we do not marginalize our people from participating in the democratic and governance processes"
She said the North West Mirror remains a key instrument through which government communicates the implementation of its programmes of action to our people.
"We are humbled by the compendium of positive feedback we receive from our people about the content and quality of the publication", Premier Molewa said.
She added that the Office of the Premier will do everything to work on areas that need urgent improvement and furthermore, pay serious attention to the issue of distribution so that many more people receive information they require from government.
Premier Molewa also said that, in the interest of improving service delivery, the Office of the Premier has identified the imperatives of designing and implementing a training programme that promotes a culture and ethics of service delivery in the public service, "while offering a viable career path for the individual"
"This objective has been identified as a priority that must receive urgent attention during this financial year and will ensure that services to the poor are delivered in a humane and dignified manner", Premier Molewa said.
