Western Cape Premier E Rasool to speak on xenophobia at Africa Day Conference

Premier Ebrahim Rasool will tomorrow, Thursday 22 May 2008, open a two-day conference taking place to mark Africa Day.
The Premier will deliver the keynote address at the conference, entitled "The Challenges and Opportunities brought about by International Migration" and participate in a panel discussion with, amongst others, Mr Abel Jeru Mbilinyi (Country Representative: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Commissioner Mzwandile Petros (Western Cape Provincial Commissioner : South African Police Service), Mr G Burton Joseph (Director: Immigration Policy and Directives, Home Affairs Department), Mr Mlungisi Hlongwane (President: South African National Civic Organisation) and Ms Nomhle Nkumbi-Ndopu (Deputy President: Black Management Forum).
Other participants in the conference include Prof Kader Asmal (Professor Extraordinary: University of the Western Cape), Dr Eddie Maloka (Advisor for Governance and Public Administration, New Partnership for Africa s Development (Nepad), Dr. Zonke Majodina (Deputy Chairperson: Human Rights Commission) and Mr. Tony Ehrenreich (Provincial Secretary: Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Western Cape).
