Ministers Essop Pahad and Marthinus van Schalkwyk announce intentions to review marketing of South Africa globally
25 April 2008
In a continued effort to ensure the aligned and strategic marketing of brand South Africa, the Ministers responsible for the international marketing of destination South Africa, Minister Essop Pahad and Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk, have announced their agreement to look at a comprehensive and effective way to market South Africa domestically and abroad.
The exercise will be undertaken in an effort to explore synchronicity between marketing efforts and find ways to align destination and national marketing strategies and campaigns.
This will involve the review of all national level structures, in particular, South African Tourism and the International Marketing Council (IMC). As such, the board chairpersons of both organisations, Ms Wendy Luhabe (IMC) and Mr Jabu Mabuza (South African Tourism) have been requested to conduct this review over the next six months.
After the review, the chairpersons will be required to make their recommendations to both Ministers.
