MEC Xasa delivers a house to a tearful 64 year old Mrs Nodathini Mafu during the Imbizo Focus week in Port Elizabeth

A 64 year old woman, Mrs Nodathini Mafu could not hold her tears when MEC for Local Government and Housing, Thokozile Xasa led her to her new home in Xundu Village, Kwadwesi location in Port Elizabeth as part of the Imbizo focus week.
Mrs Mafu is one of 1 211 beneficiaries of houses given by MEC on the 10th of April. “I thank the Eastern Cape government for this house, it has made a home for Bheki, my 32 year old son” said Mrs Mafu. “I am very happy that we are leaving the shacks”.
The housing project, implemented by Mzingisi Trust has created 250 jobs in Metro Municipality. The MEC commended Mzingisi Trust for setting an acceptable housing construction standard in Eastern Cape. Beneficiaries were also appreciated by the MEC for their patience. “By November 2008 all of you will be living in your houses” We will not compromise quality of houses government delivers to the people of the province,” concluded Xasa, during the Imbizo focus week.
The Imbizo focus week took a service delivery problem solving approach by the provincial government this year, in response to the concerns people have already raised with government in previous Imbizos.
