The Minister of Defence to hold Imbizo in Polokwane
4 April 2008
On Monday, 7 April 2008, the Minister of Defence, Honourable Mosiuoa Lekota will hold an Imbizo to announce the adoption of Ditsepu Secondary School situated in Ga-Maja village, 42 kilometres from Polokwane. Following this Imbizo, the Minister through the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Construction Regiment will commence work to improve the school's dilapidated infrastructure.
The school has been constant in producing excellent matric results, despite unfavourable infrastructure conditions. The Minister will also encourage all learners from schools around the village to join the Military Skills Development System (MSDS). The MSDS seeks to rejuvenate the SANDF human resource composition and to grant development opportunities to the country's youth by equipping them with scarce skills including engineering, medicine and pilot training, amongst others.
You are invited to send a journalist and a photographer or cameraperson to the Imbizo. Members of the media are requested to RSVP by today 13h00 to book for limited seats on the flight to Polokwane on Monday.
Additional details relating to the departure will be communicated later today.
