Premier Balindlela's Policy Speech to outline priorities for her department

Eastern Cape Premier Ms Nosimo Balindlela will today, 11 March 2008 outline to the Provincial Legislature how her department (Office of the Premier - OTP) intends to spend the R383 million budget it has been allocated by the Provincial Treasury for the 2008/09 financial year. This event will be held at the Good News Church in King Williams Town at 14h00.
The Office of the Premier (OTP) is mandated with ensuring responsive, integrated and sustainable service delivery to all in the Eastern Cape through strategic leadership, critical interventions and co-ordinated effective provincial governance. During this year's Provincial Budget Speech Finance MEC Billy Nel announced a 16,8 percent increase for the OTP's budget. He said this will help the OTP to advance the work of ASGISA Eastern Cape Pty (Ltd) and set up the Leadership, Management Assessment and Development Centre. MEC Nel also said part of the additional allocation will be used to expand and enhance the effectiveness of the communication function of the government.
