Minister of Health calls an urgent meeting to address the private hospital groups' tariffs increases

The Minister of Health Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has called an urgent meeting to better understand and to respond to the private hospital groups' tariffs increases, to be implemented this month. Present at this meeting would be representatives from the Council for Medical Schemes of South Africa and the Board of Healthcare Funders.
The Minister is deeply concerned about cost escalations and lack of transparency in pricing in the private healthcare sector. The health of the South Africans is a national priority and as the Minister of Health, she has a responsibility to safeguard the health of all communities of South Africa and is committed to find a solution that would benefit the people of this country.
A media briefing will take place after the meeting as follows:
