Eastern Cape accident statistics

27 December 2007

Between 24 and 26 December 2007, our provincial traffic officers have issued a total of 634 summonses over the three days, including 15 arrests.

These are for various road traffic offences.

Furthermore, 32 unroadworthy motor vehicles were suspended

The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Transport would like to commend these officers for the good work, which seeks to ensure the success of our Arrive Alive Campaign. We would like to further commend members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS), who are working tirelessly with us to ensure that there is law and order on our roads.

Our operations will continue 24 hours a day, especially during the 31st of December 2007 and the 1st of January 2008.
