Eastern Cape Safety, Liaison, Roads and Transport, MEC Mhlahlo appoints Matatiele Municipality as Registering Authority
26 September 2007
As from 1 October 2007, the eNatis system will officially reflect Matatiele Local Municipality as part of the Eastern Cape province. The changing over process follows the appointment of the municipality as a motor vehicle registering authority by Eastern Cape MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads and Transport Mr Thobile Mhlahlo last month. MEC Mhlahlo was acting in terms of Section 2 of the Roads Traffic Act, 1989 (Act 29 of 1989).
This was followed by a Provincial Gazette No 1762 dated 3 September 2007 and the Provincial Notice No 24. This means that all Matatiele registered motor vehicles having KwaZulu-Natal registration number plates have one year, from the date of this publication to change to Eastern Cape registration plates.
On Friday, 28 September 2007, the Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Transport Provincial Helpdesk staff will visit Matatiele Registration Authority to assist with the changing-over process.
