Minister Skweyiya to highlight services to people with disabilities

The Minister for Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya will promote social development services to people with disabilities at an Imbizo at the Itireleng Workshop for the Blind in Ga-rankuwa on Friday, 13 April.

Details of the event are as follows:

Venue: Itireleng Workshop for the Blind, 3152 Zone 2, Ga-rankuwa

The Itireleng Workshop for the Blind produces furniture and other household goods. It provides rehabilitative services to persons with disabilities, especially the Blind. The Friday event will include residents and participants of the centre as well as members of the Ga-rankuwa community.

The Minister will interact with the community and acquaint himself with the successes as well as challenges facing people with disabilities in the Ga-rankuwa community and hear their comments on how the Department can improve service delivery. Other issues to be dealt with are expected to be substance and drug abuse, community development and services to children, older persons and youth with disabilities.

Participants at the gathering, which is part of Imbizo Focus Week, will also be able to register for social grants.
