Municipal by-election in Limpopo on 31 January 2007

The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Mr Mosotho Moepya, said today (22 January) that the first municipal ward by-elections for this year will take place in Limpopo on Wednesday, 31 January 2007. Only one ward is involved.
A total of 5 candidates, representing 5 political parties, will contest the vacant ward.
Ward 25 in Greater Tubatse (Burgersfort/Ohrigstad/Eastern Tubatse) – LIM475 will be contested by Phatlane Sany Malepe of the African Christian Democratic Party, Matshehla Maggie Mametja of the African National Congress, Hlagudi Solomon Ramogayana of the Azanian People's Organisation, Mahatama Geofrey Maupa of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania and Maile Frans Maripane of the United Independent Front.
Voting stations will be open from 07h00 to 21h00. A total of 3 781 voters are registered in the one (1) ward with three voting districts where the by-election will be taking place.
